Wherever You Are... Epo'o

I like to imagine that the very name Epo’o is an adaptation of the little Zambian word, “epo.” In Bemba – that great language – “epo” is used in reference to a space, place or location and confers the meaning “that’s it!” implying “that is the place.”
Epo’o Is The Place
The essence of Epo’o is captured not only in its name, but in its very structure. Epo’o is a fluid entity, with a Forum, where members meet to discuss ideas and express views.
The important aspect here is the notion of Epo’o as the place to bring your ideas, without fear or prejudice. This is perhaps the most powerful element of this organisation, together with the multi-professional mix of the membership. By bringing our ideas together, in a forum of experts from different fields, we not only enrich those ideas but get different perspectives that enrich us and aid our efforts.
My Epo’o Vision
My vision for Epo’o is linked to my ideals for the great nation of Zambia. My dream is to see Zambia become a highly developed nation in my lifetime. Of course it’s not up to Epo’o to achieve that on our own – we have to be realistic and not absurd. But I see Epo’o as a vitally important cog in the wheel of Zambian development.
Through the pursuit of enterprise, profitable endeavours and philanthropic and charitable aims, we will enrich individuals, communities and the nation. In the process we will contribute to the great Zambian journey.
My Place In Epo’o
Clarence Chongo
Although I am the chief website administrator for Epo’o, my main role is, as the Trust Accountant, to provide the link between all our ideas and our development strategies to the great legal world out there, and to provide financial accounting expertise. The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, ACCA, and about five years as financial planning analyst and manager is where I draw the experience that I bring to Epo’o. I have also taught myself website design and development – so vital in this age!
All these skills, accounting, legal and web-based are, of course, yet to be improved, honed and perfected. The endeavour continues, but wherever I am, that’s my Epo’o.
