The Epo'o Project for Small Scale Energy (SSE)
Small Scale Energy, SSE
The objective of the Small Scale Energy project is to deliver renewable and sustainable energy to very specifically defined areas such as a school, hospital or community. There are a number of viable engineering solutions in this area, but the particular one under consideration by Epo’o is Ground Source Heat Pumps, GSHP’s
The ground source heat pump concept is very simple…. You identify a field of sufficient size which receives enough sunlight to heat a coil or set of coils that are laid underground. The coils absorb the heat from the ground and transfer this heat to water in order to generate steam. The steam is then used to power an electric generator or generators.
Epo’o engineers have been urged to provide a technical specification for this project. Then there will be a period of study for economic feasibility and community impact, as well as the potential for transfers of excess power to the national grid.
GSHP’s are by no means the only viabel source of small-scale energy. There is Currently an abundance of ideas in this area. Epo’o will seek to enter into suitable partnership with other reputable orginsations that have similar aims in this area.
The aim here is to ease the burden for the delivery of renewable energy at the small-scale level.
