Nottingham: Zambia Independence Day Celebrations, Saturday 24 October 2009

Happy times on BoatEpo’o Entertainment created another truly memorable experience for the Zambia Independence Celebrations in Nottingham 2009.

The Celebrations were fashioned in a remarkable triple experience for the invited guests with the day spread among entertaining segments;

The River-boat Cruise on Nottingham’s River Trent

A full Buffet Dinner, with a  choice from a wide range of mouth-watering dishes

An After-party dance, with music by the Celeb DJ Chela Katwishi.

The Party Began In Earnest

The invited guests arrived in droves, draped in eye-catching style and fashion of glorious Zambian dress and ready to enjoy the day in the building aura of good banter and pearls of laughter.

First up,  was the River-boat Cruise, setting sail at a little after 2pm, from Nottingham’s Park Yacht Inn, just off Trent Lane, and striking out along the river Trent. This, our very own Nalikwanda, decked out in Kuomboka style and  draped in Zambian celebratory decor. On board was a fully stocked bar serving all manner of drink,  and our very own Celeb DJ CHELA KATWISHI playing the very latest Zambian beats.

The Yacht cruised for a full 3 hrs along the Trent with Zambian beats rocking in sync with boat as it rolled on  waves of the Trent. This encouraged the patrons to twist and turn and chant to the sounds blasting off speakers amid conductive gigs and gags from the energetic DJ CJ……

Upon arrival back in port, the guest were escorted to the comfortable function rooms where the dinner and after party were being hosted. DJ CJ set himself up again, and moments later Park Yacht Inn was transformed into an incredible atmosphere of great fun-fare, dance and laughter.

And The Surprises Were Twain

Epo’o Entertainment had put together a two-fold surprise. Shortly after 18:15, an announcement came through from the MC station, informing the crowd that there were just about to be joined by His Excellency, the High Commissioner of Zambia, Dr Royston Mukwena. Shortly after that, came the second surprise, when a whole roast hog was dragged into the function room for the enjoyment of  His Excellency and the guests! This was alongside a full menu of sumptuous choices to entertain the palate and satiate the belly, not least among which was nshima with Tilapia.

God Bless Zambia – And The Diaspora

His Excellency graced the occasion with welcome news about the efforts being made by the Zambian government to strengthen connections between the High Commission and the Diaspora. He also indicated his desire to venture out and meet Zambians from every corner of the UK.

After dinner, His Excellency and First Lady opened the dance floor and showed off their diplomatic moves.

A Great Day And A Good Time Was Had By All…

It was, altogether, an amazing event, full of variety and special moments. Epo’o Entertainment have done it again!
