Zambia Independence Day 2008 – November
It all started with a simple invitation by Epo’o Entertainment

Epo’o Entertainment invited the populous, Zambians and friends of Zambians to join in what was planned to be a truly memorable experience. Epo’o created something that was more than just a party or get together. Something a little bit more than just an atmosphere or a great binge.

“We wanted people to come and experience something that they would carry with them for days, weeks, months or even years to come … ” Teddy Chungu – Epo’o Entertainment.

What Epo’o set up to serve was a truly remarkable experience; of good times, leisure, and comfort;  the opportunity to meet and create new connections and deepen old ones in the company of fun loving people, full of laughter and good banter all around.

AND OF COURSE THERE WAS FOOD AND DRINK TOO!

It would not be a Zambian Independence day celebration if the most particular attention was not paid to such (important) basic necessities.

It was an Independence Day Procession… … organised in a most original fashion.
A combination of  two different and exciting events arranged into stages of a single event, occupying the entire afternoon, evening and part of the small hours of the morning.

First off with the feel of the Nalikwanda as if on the Kuomboka and draped in Zambian decor, the guests simply loved the River-boat Cruise aboard the luxurious Nottingham Princess Yacht. This is Nottingham’s finest yacht, fully equipped with a captain and crew.

On board, was a Free Buffet Service, availability of all manner of drinks including the popular Castle lager,  with the DJ playing the very latest hits from home and of course the classic oldies…….including ba  PK, Paul Ngozi and others.

Picture the scenery…….boarding commenced as the clock hit 13:00 hrs at Nottingham’s Park Yacht Inn, just off Trent Lane,
And then the luxurious twin decked Nottingham Princess yacht set sail out along the river Trent, cruising, floating wonderfully, for a couple of fun filled hours with plenty Zambian beats playing away……..

AND THEN THE GREAT SWITCH-OVER…

Epo’o Entertainment had arranged a carriage for the guests transporting them to The After Party.

This was at the Cricket Players, Nottingham’s renowned venue for African Beats. Here, the guests were greeted with a nice aroma of michopo, some tasty braiied meat and sausages and of course a fully stocked bar with an assortment of drinks including the popular Castle Lager……

The resident DJ then took the night away with combinations of all kinds of Zambian music and hints of other African music until the small hours of the next morning.

BUT WHAT TRANSPIRED THEN WAS THE ICING ON THE CAKE!!! THE GUESTS WERE SIMPLY AMAZED AT WHAT THEY SAW!

On top of what was promised in the invitation, Epo’o went that extra mile to deliver the highest quality entertainment on the night.

Epo’o Entertainment had invited John Chiti AND Mampi to perform at this most amazing of events……and they delivered in the truest sense as the artists performed live in front of the merry crowd.

MAMPI took to the stage and mesmerised the guests with her singing and dancing moves, opening up with her famous “BUNDULILA” tune….and while the patronage were still in awe, she hit them with the jaw dropping “I AM PORTABLE”…….

And to most, listening to his music for the first time, Zambians new lyrical sensation John Chiti stepped on stage and delivered his “Nga Uleya” tune….
This left the guests tossing, twisting, and turning away as the DJ took it up and followed on with some Zambian and other African beats way into the small hours of the morning.

Since the night of the event, Epo’o Entertainment have been overwhelmed by positive feedback from guests.

“I thought the event was well organised and professional, nice crowd and fantastic day boat cruise and after party included.” Mwewa Muche, Secretary, Zambian Community – Manchester.

This popular, public demand has prompted thoughts of a follow-up event, most likely around Easter 2009 and again around Independence Day next year.
